take a hide. throughly pickle it.
this should take two weeks with proper use of an enzyme, stirring and shaving. return to pickle each time after shaving and refreshing your enzyme after a few days.
now -
when your sure your hide is throughly pickled, hang it to drain for an hour or two.
now. wrap tighly in a plastic bag. then another plastic bag. this is to keep all air off and to keep the hide from drying.
now you can store this hide [at any ambient room tempurature] for 2 days, 2 weeks, two months, two years or 14 years.
this is exactly what happened with 252 shaved coyotes that i purchase from a bankrupt tannery 3 years ago. except for 35 that i lost by not neutralizing slowly enough during the tanning process. [with Rittels eze 100]
and another 15 or so i believe were bad at the beginning. all the rest turned out beautifully tanned and gorgeous and sold for a nice profit. of course i give much credit to Rittels supersoft oi, and of course the invaluable fat eating enzymes.
hope this helps some flegling tanner out there.

you can, take a skin, treat with STOP-ROT, place in a plastic bag and squeeze it to get all the air out. Put it in the freezer till ready to tan it. That also works very well. Joe
