Whats a good combination of ingredients (ex. 5 parts water to 1 part salt ect.) to use to rehydrate all my capes and small mammals after they have been salted?

It works very well for salted capes. Joe
Ben ,Don't forget to add some disinfectent to the solution also, there are various chemicals available from your suppliers.
Why? I would use any thing like that in my bath. And any use of that can cause major slippage.
All I use is Ultra Soft from Rittle's. Just mix it with plain water. Usually a soak of overnight is enough to rehydrate your hides.
Or the old stand by which is stated one pound of salt to a gallon of water, that's it nothing else is added to it.
I have heard folks added some bactericide to that but not a disinfectent. Stay away from that! As you can see no e-mail don't trust it!
All you need for dry salted skins is 1/4 lb of salt to each gallon of water and 1/2 oz of Relax R to each gallon of water. As an option you can use 2 oz for every 5 gallons of water, the Relax R will help wet the skins back faster. More salt than this on a dry salted skin is just a waste, they will rehydrate better with less salt. Relax R does have a bacteriacide added in. If you choose not to use it Our new Skin Prep NBU that replaces the Basacryl has been working just outstanding. Everyone that has tried it likes it way Better! Its even stronger.
Mark is right on the money. I was having some slippage on white tails that I'm doing rug tans on, started using the Skin Prep NBU and the realer, cut back on my rehydration time(WAY BACK) and eliminated the slippage by about 95%. Dramatic results, and chemicals reacted EXACTLY like Mark said it would.
