Does mange on a coyote affect the tanning proccess? I have a coyote that has a few small spots, but looks pretty good. Just wondering if the rest of the hair will slip after tanning?

Sarcoptic, demodectic, and cheyletiella mange mites, along with "moist" and "dry" eczemas, flea and tick bites, and secondary infections caused by all of the previous, plus superficial open skin wounds with infection can all create problems. However, the extent of the problem will usually not be known until after you have ran through a pickle and neutralizing. Odds can be pretty good that you will lose only a fraction of an inch of epidermis and hair follicles surrounding the affected areas.

I belive what...

Glen is trying to say is, Mange affects the skin of an animal and tanning won't fix any issues with the skin. But the tanning will not hurt it any more than it already is. Have a good one! Joe
