Whats the best method to Tan a Cougar hide with the paw pads and use the original skull and teeth to make a rug? I guess I am mostly concerned with a good tanning process and making the hide soft and keeping the paw pads from cracking or rotting.

I don't want to insult you but you have alot to learn. People don't use the original skull. Rugs are mounted on a head form and a jaw set. As for the tanning, send it out to someone who knows what they are doing. Preferrably a reputable taxidermy to prep the skin and send it out. If you don't have a clue what you are doing you are going to ruin the cat.
Its not my cat, Its a friend of mine and he asked me to search the internet for info. Good info, but he's an old timer, do it your selfer that tanned a hide or two years ago. He was interested in some modern technology. I'll pass the info on.
