I am new to tanning, and making buckskin. I was thinking about trying to make a buckskin peice this year, and have read a few articles on it, but I was wondering if anyone out there could render me some advice.
I dont know what alum is or where to find it. Or slaked lime. Both of which the articles I have read said I need.
Anyone know where I can get some items like this for making buckskin?
Also, if I follow the McKenzie guide for tanning hides, and it says mount them right away, I assume there is a seperate process for this and is not what i am looking to do? Correct?
