With the tanning methods used at the bigger commericial tanneries, how long can one expect a skin or pelt to last in good condition? Assumming that the skin is kept in an air condition environment.
I've asked that question and the tannery only says that it will outlive me. I'd like to hear the opinion of you guys and gals with experience.

I've heard of pieces (skins) falling apart (and I've seen them), so this doesn't happen with quality modern tanning?
