I am mounting my first mule deer and decided to use Krowtan 2000. My question is, after it is tanned, neutralized and washed can I immediately mount it or do I need to let it dry, oil it and break it 1st ?
Also is Krowtan 2000 good for making hides soft for a throw to?

let it drip dry for a while then you can mount it. it will be soft, no breaking or oil needed. it works great.
Mount it or freeze it after letting it drip for an hour or so.
Now for a throw, you'll need to oil it with Krow oil, let it dry and break it some. It will be fairly soft, although not nearly as nice a a tannery can make it. I Krowtan/oil my personal stuff, but send customer "throws" to the tannery. BP
you can do an ok job for soft tanning with krowtann but if you want to do it at home you need to use something like lutanf - otherwise send it out
Thanks for your advise... I love this forum :o)
