Hey guys my EZ-100 kit got here today day and i can't wait to get started. I'm goning to do a possum hide that i don't care to much about first just to see how it all works then try some deer and fox. I have a question though when i skinned this possum i fleshed it the salted it well getting it nice a dry. I then placed it in a zip lock bag and froze it. I've got it in a relaxing bath right now how long should i let it stay there? Also i just aquired some nice whitetail hides that where balled up and frozen will they be ok to just dethaw, flesh and pickle or should i salt them before the pickle to help set the hair? Thanks for all the help.

relax untill fully soft. Or, soak in salt water for 1 hour, drain, place in plastic bag, throw it in the fridge for overnight and let it sweat till soft.
The hides can be thawed, but not dethawed. Dethawed is not a word. Yes you will need to salt after the fleshing. This removes the blood and other juices. Then rince off, pickle and tan.
just needed to know what to do, thanks

just don't do it again. :-)
i work for a tannery in houston and we thaw over night in a refrigerator. if still a little frozen they can be put into cool water under cool running water to open them up. salting and fully drying will help remove natural oils and help the hide to accept the pickle better.
Thanks for all the help.

Rince is not a word. Keep sayong foul words like that and your mother's going to RINSE your mouth out with soap!
sayong that you posted, is not a word also. Atleast, my word was spelled closer than ( sayong ).
