I have a fresh calf hide. Calf weighed 600 pounds. I have tanned several deer and goat hides. But need to know if salt and alum will work to pickle it? Also dont remeber amounts of salt, alum and water.I am working on fleshing the hide should have it done by morning. Would appreciate any help you can give me, it has been serval years since I tanned the other hides and do not want to mess up. It is a beatiful hide.
