I recently tanned two bobcat hides using 'Deer Hunter's tan' it's from cabela's and comes in an orange bottle. The hides tanned well but they are very hard. Is it too late to rehydrate with water and tumble dry? Will this help make them softer? Thanks for any help.

you oil the skins and break them?
No I did not. What oil would you recommend.
tanning oil #1 or Rittels tanning oil
Thanks John, I'll try the oil. Does it hurt to get the skin wet after it is tanned. I wanted to wash it because I got some to the tanning solution on the hide and it made it oily. Thanks for your help.
I have no idea what the tanning ingredient is in the kit you bought but it should be ok.
The Cabelas orange bottle stuff is not a very good tan. Rehydrating and breaking as it dries yields a slightly stiff hide. Tried it once after the first time it didnt even tan.
