I prefer wet tan no matter what season. That way I do not have to soak the skin up, it is ready for mounting as soon as I get it. But I tan most of my own capes unless it is bears or greasy skinned mammals.

It's not a matter of what's best, it's a matter of the application that you will be using the tanned skin or cape or hide for!
