Tumbler question

I have just build a 4' diameter tumbler out of plywood. Does anyone have any idea on what size of motor it would take to turn it?

depends on your gearing reduction. i'd try for at least a 1/2. i'm using a 1/3 replacement motor cause it was free. it's working fine if i don't get to enthusiastic with the load.

I will ask a question for this one.

Ever seen the motor they use in a dryer? It is like 1/8 hp and spins 50lbs of wet cloths just fine. Mine has a 1hp motor on it and it's a 6 footer. Joe
