Thining the hide

Just looking at the process as a beginner is it even need to thin the hide after fleshing it will still be tanned and dry out right? Would this not be a time saver?

Deer and small game?

With some exceptions, the general rule is "No". Larger game, it's a downright necessity.

thinning leather

fox, coyote, and coons. it is very possible to achieve a good tan with out thinning. provided the hides are fleshed very well. and a good enzyme is used to dig down and remove all fat. but as george has said it is a necessity on larger game.

if hide isnt thinned....

you wont get any detail on mount (especially large mammals)
