I was told that dry salting a buffalo hide will help set the hair until its tanned. Any thoughts on the matter?
Thanks

It needs to be fleshed good and then salted, fold it skin to skin and place on a slight incline so the fluid can drain for 24 hrs. Shake the salt off and repeat. Buffalo are thick so you may want to do this a third time. Then place in a cool dry place with air movent until dry. The hide can be folded to conserve space when almost dry. The key is fleshing it good and low humidity. I live on the Texas coast so the North wind is king when drying hides.
