I was having trouble with stretch on a cape I found that putting on realy hot water (almost boiling) gave them good stretch. Any problems with doing this?

Jeff, are you sweating your capes?Using boiling hot water your just asking fur-ha ha-trouble,it'll really loosen the hair up.After thawing or rehydrating your skin, place them in a towel and put in refridgerator overnight, you should get most if not all your stretch back.Another problem could be your not thinning the hides good enough.

might be his Tannery isnt thinning the hides good enough. Boiling water will also wash out any tan on the market. Even chrome has a hard time holding on at that temp.
