Ok, day 4 of being in Krowtann. I do not know what I am going to do with these hides. Wall hangings, maybe. Just experimenting Krowtann. I am going to pull out tomorrow. I know to neutralize, and then wash. After washing, I am done right? They can be left in room temps at that point right? I know I may have to oil and break them, just wanted to make sure that I was done freezing them.

That doesn't make sense to me. If it is tanned, why would it have to be frozen again? I thought that once yoy tanned, you were done. What would I have to do to these if they were going to be wall hangings?

Oil

You need to use tanning oil on them to soften them. Let them dry stretched out if you want wall hangers. Krowtanns not the best for this but I never tried it for wall hangers either. Ozark Woods does have Krow oil ! Might try it.

whats your plan

as to your first part you will still need to do the final fleshing after you wash the hide and let it drip for an hour or 2 then freeze the cape since as you said you dont know what you are going to do with the hides. You need to decide what you are doing with the capes before you go in the wrong direction with them. If you are going to make a soft skin DO NOT let it dry out freeze the hides and call or e-mail us before you ruin your capes. Dont confuse yourself thats why we put our phone number on the bottle. our toll free line 1-800-467-0369

STRANGE

That seems strange you should be able to oil and dry any skin, who cares what its for. Even if you want to mount it then rehydrate it and mount it just like you would with any versital tan.

Do yourselves a favor...

and call that number. Krowtann is indeed an easy product to work with. BUT, it is crucial that you do the right things.
I called the number, and here is what I learned.
You DO NOT want the tanned cape or hide to dry out. If you do, forget it. It will harden, and retain memory.
If it is a cape for mounting, freeze until you can mount.
If it is a hide that you want soft, you must apply Krowoil before it dries out. Even then, there are instructions on what to do with the oil. Without following these specific instructions, you will end up with a stiff hide that will be hard to work with.

Ozark Woods, another fine company that is right there to help you out.
