Uncle George, you have mail

on the way by snail.

I finally got that piece of skin sent your way. Again, it was pickled in a high sulphate solution without sodium chloride or potassium chloride, and it was an "iffy" cape to begin with. It was pickled six to eight years ago. It has already been soaked back up once, and that was just a few weeks ago. Now that was an acid pickle and sodium chloride (salt) or potassium chloride did not touch it.

Use any realistic test you can think of to test the integrity of the piece. I do have a piece left from that sample that is about twice the size of the one I just sent. I would be reluctant to give that one up until it could be put to objective use.

That should give you something to think about. Everything in print in front of your eyes, this one has to be easy.

Sure, I recall saying that and I'd say the same thing again as the guy had salted a hide and then wanted to DP it. You said you PICKLED your hide. What does that have to do with DPing it? Pickling it already went beyond the capabilities of DP.

The pickle that was made DID NOT

have sodium chloride or potassium chloride added to it either.

I was not trying to strike fear in your heart by bringing that post up. However, if you thought, "That dadburn Conley is settin' me up for something", you're kinda right. But guaranteed it will be painless, I think you might even enjoy it.

When you get the sample, dig out your Mad Scientist hat, you know the one that looks like a Beanie cap with the little propeller on top, put it on and check things out. Let me know, and then I will give you details. There's some other guys that will be interested in the same details and I'll pass the information on in a motion.

OOooooh,
