When do I need to tumble. I'm planning on using the McKenzie brush on tan to tan my hides. Does this require tumbling.

I am doing a badger rug, as you probably already know. I am also planning on doing a pedestal coyote and tanning a beaver hide for a blanket. I've heard of just toweling them off. Does this work like tumbling as I don't own a tumbler.
