rehydrating dry tanned capes?

When rehydrating dry tanned capes.How long can you leave the cape in the water?Is too long no good?

I usually let them soak for about 3 hours in room temp water. Then, I spin them in the washing machine and roll them up with the ears and face tucked in. Bag and refrigerate overnight. I wouldn't let them soak more than 3-4 hrs. It might not hurt anything, but that's just my $0.02
