Well, this summer I soaked a boar hide in lime and water for approximately 10 days following the directions provided in James Churchill's directions in his home tanning book. The hair scraped off pretty easily. This was follow by a multiple soakings in baking soda and cold water. And I also had degreased it by soaking in kerosene. I know that's not the best method but...that's what the book said. I After that, I froze it for several months before taking it into Trophy Game Tanning in Wisconsin.

Today the fruit of my labor returned and I have to say it looks pretty damn good! I'm real happy with it. The whole thing was a great learning experience from the skinning of the boar to the end product.

I realize that as a rookie my technique and methods may have left much to be desired, but in the end, it really turned out beautifully.
