Tanning a coon with Krowtann

Submitted by Jessica on 4/1/06 at 1:49 PM. ( horseelady_jessie@yahoo.com )

I have a racoon and a doe cape that I wanted to tan with Krowtann but have heard not to salt them first, I didn't know that before I salted them though... can I still tan them with krowtan and get good results or am I better off tanning with something else since they are salted right now? Thanks in advance! Jessica

if they are salted dry just rehydrate them in plain water then after they are soft proceed with the tan, if they arn't dry yet just shake off the salt and go ahead with tanning.
hope this helps you out

Will it turn out right?

Will it still tan the right way? I heard that if they were salted first that the tan wouldn't take as good and you would get some shrinkage and lose stretch, is that true? Thanks again!
