84 deg.and hot enough to get wet
so i said what the heck
a friend just bought a nice little honda 5.5 h.p.
even though its only 2500 it did a nice job
i made a platform out of a 2 x12 ,mitred the ends and slid the cape on
its a little messy but man oh man does it does a great job
nice bright white membrane meat free hide
did from the neck down in about 15 min.
im sure with a 3000lb and a little practice i could even go lower
now i chose a very young small thin skinned buck for the test
i wanted to see if it would put holes or not
i would saw you would have to try to put a hole
i stayed in one spot on the very bottom of the cape and put a hole
but it probably took a full 30 sec. or better
i just had to see how long it would take
its a little wet but a real time saver

p.s. had to bribe the wife with a new pair of shoes from walmart
got a few pcs of scrap meat in her garden(close one)

Where are you doing this job and how do you clean up the mess afterwards?

Thanks, Scott

what tip

This response submitted by chad on 4/12/06 at 9:56 AM. ( )

What type of nozzel was on the power washer? was it just the standard fan nozzel or was it a spiriling turbo tip?

did it on drive way

used a regular hose to wash it in a pile and just picked it up and threw in trash
this 5.5 model had a assortment of tips
i settled on a 25 deg.
it shoots out with a flat stream that works well
had a wheel barrel tilted up on edge to catch most of the overspray
if decide to go into some more i would close in a area with sheet metal that i have access to
i have a huge elk to do in a couple of weeks
this could get interesting

buying a pair of shoes for the wife could get expensive if i do it every cape so i need to tighten up with a enclosure of some sort
if you dont mind getting wet it works great and is faster than anything ive ever tried

should work well with the method of tanning im using currently
stop-rot,30 min brine acid soak,jrts
these things have been coming out great with super stretch
now i can go strait to the tan in one day wow life is good lately

oops dropped my crispy creme
gotta pick it up before the allowed time expires
just knock the deer hair off
oh ya its fine
