I did a search for acid rot and turned up a ton of info. Sounds like if you don't neutralize your capes you'll have problems down the road with acid rot. I did a search on neutralizing and I still don't have the answers I need. I'm using an auto tanner, with Van Dykes tanning crystals. They are an aluminum sulfate and sodium carbonate mix. I think it's carbonate or is bi-carbonate... Will the same acid rot possibilities exist in this method, using these crystals or am I ok. I read in the archives that a neutralizing bath consists of, what was it, 1oz of soda per gallon of water. With the soda already in the tanning mixture, do I need to neutralize the cape afterward? I checked the ph of the tanning solution to be at least 5, I haven't checked the cape ph, as I just learned how to , thanks archives. Yip, I don't know much, you guessed it. Thanks for the help
If an aluminum sulfate tan is so scary, why is used?

follow their instructions and everything will be okay - there is no need to invent problems... enuf will show up on their own
don't worry about acid rot using a tan containing aluminum sulfate? No need to neutralize the cape? Still dazed and confused.
