Does anyone know somebody who works with non-toxic tanning such as vegetable or vinegar tanning? Its for a very thin skin not a thick hide. Help is greatly appreciated.

would be an acid for pickeling. Vegetable tans are a good long term tanning agent, but arent suited for Taxidermy tanning, because of the lack of stretch, and the legnth of time a skin must be left in tan, to achive a good tan. The only tan, ocassionally mentioned on here, that is enviromentally unfriendly, would be chrome. Most everything else, is ok to handle, and dump in a city sewer, or your septic system. High quanities of salt, might kill your grass, if you are on a rural septic system. Searh Knoblochs, and Rittels Tanning Supplies. You will find what you need there. Suppliers, at top of page.
