rehydrating trapper dryed furs for tanning

Submitted by Matt on 6/7/06 at 6:08 PM. ( ) 207.89.155.81

I was wondering if i should add anything to the water when putting trappers dried furs into it to rehydrate them. I have done this before and i have came out fine on 2 coyotes, it just takes a while to soften up. I always soak up salted skins which take in water very quickly and i always have used plain water for this. Should i get some kind of rehydrating relaxer or something like that? Thanks, Matt

Get it from Dan Rineharts Supply. Works great; degreases as well.

Rittels Ultra soft works great and it will rehydrate a air dried skin almost as fast as slat dried skins.
