salt dried vs.air dried rehydration

I was wondering if there was a difference in the way that one would go about rehydrating a air dried cape vs a salt dried cape. I am new to this and need to get the dried hides to the point that I could pickle them and get them tanned. thanks.

But it will take a little longer. I use Rittel's ultra-soft to soak the hides plus if you don't have that I know Knobloch's also has some good stuff also.
