tanning a bear after using alum

I have a client that tried to preserve a bear hide using alum. Now when it gets humid it sucks in the moisture and drips. Can it somehow be tanned and if so how? I don't understand why would you spend $1500 to shoot a bear and not spend $100 to get it tanned properly. I tried to tell him that was going to happen to it but, he is a mechanic and knew more about about it than I did . Ha! Thanks

I would not garrenty it but, put right into the pickeling ,for a couple of days neutralize it , put it in the tanning oil it tumble it and charge him more for the problems he caused you.

If not sure call me at (705)476-0483

Have it re-tanned.

Send it out to be re-tanned with chrome. Usaly chrome is done first and then it is retanned with veg or alum or syn. but I don't think any thing else will fix it. Send it to Trophy Game Tanning in WI. I think they do good chrome tanning.
