I have used Krowtann on several deer capes so far, using Arm & Hammer baking soda, and I get nothing but great results with good stretch. Are you thinning the skin correctly after the tanning process? Maybe give Ozark Woods a call and ask them.

a professional tanning oil on the neck area. The cape will relax out an your incision will be much easier. Good Luck

your not thinning enough

neck area is the thickest on cape and needs to be thinned.
all the acid has swelled the skin now you need to remove it.
You will have plenty of strecth after you take it down properly.
good luck to you

arm and hammer

just curiuos isn't arm and hammer exceptable for neutralizing krowtan?
I have used it for two seasons with no problems
I do oil and use the inner tube trick on deer capes when needed

A&H is sodium bi-carbonate. Pro -tanners use same thing in 80lb bags. Inner tubes are for people without a good tanner. A good shave job, by an experienced shaver, would eliminate your problems. Geesh, the time expense spent for your problems, you could have paid a pro-tanner less, and saved money. If your doing more than 20 mounts a year, your wasting your time. A good shave job is 60% or more of your stretch, and without it, your spinning your wheels.

75% of the time the skin is under shaved, 10% of the time the skins is overshaved, some of the skins are underpickled, and on and on and on. Send it out to a tanner! and thet them deal with it you will not be sorry.

Thanks for your reply
I thought A&H was real sodium bi-carbonate it says 100% sb on the box
I see some are doubling the dose ? is this not necessary?

I have seen many horry storys on this form about send out tannerys as well as many great reports about send out tannerys.

Also many of the tannerys are so swamped with work they don't take small timers such as me.

I enjoy home tans and at times the "GR" inner tube makes it fit
and I do like krowtann "sorry George"
