krowtann slippage and hot spots

Submitted by John on 7/9/06 at 4:12 PM. ( )

This is my second year using Krowtann. I had no problems at all with it last year. This year I am getting slippage on different capes, i.e. bobcat, deer, fox, etc... I follow the directions by krowtann for neutralizing, cleaned capes myself so they aren't the suspect. Most of the slippage seems to be in the long hair, brisket and shoulder areas. The only thing I have done differntly than last year is I am now using a plastic milk jug half full of water to hold the capes down in the solution pan. Could I be creating hot spots by doing this? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks,

You MUST turn the hides and stretch them out at least 2 times the first day and 1 a day until you take it out. Hides get wrinkles in them you can get slippage.
