I am in the process of completing the tanning of 3 sheepskins at home. I knew nothing about tanning before starting out on this project. One skin I de-haired (I didn't start out with that idea, so you can probably guess why I had to dehair it) and the other two have the hair on.
What can I do (simple method) to neutralize the odor so I can bring them inside?

Rotten? Chemical smell? Tanning oil smell?
They just seem to have an animal smell. It's not chemical, it doesn't smell rotten and I don't think it's the neats foot oil smell that I used. I always wash up after working with the skins, but the skins themselves seem to have a lingering odor that I wash off from my hands when I finish working. It's not a strong odor, but just something that I'm aware of. Is there something I should be doing?
