Dawn is Dullsville!

Friends in taxidermy, Stay away from Dawn on your fur and feathers, It has bleach and dulls the look. Keeping you away from the award winning taxidermy prizes! One guy I talked to won a fox show back in Illinois used a high quality carpet shampoo to shine his Silver fox fur. A friend and business assoc. is presently having good luck with a dog coat groomer/shiner from pets smart. I don't know how good these products are from my own personal experience. But i do know not to listen to pessimistic guys like George's Roof Blown Off in the Storm. And [Big EJ] dumb brain at Outhouse Creek Taxidermy.
Hear Ye, Hear Ye,
ATTN. Youngsters!
Seek wisdom friends.
Better to read and write with the learned guys like lil' ej. Mr David Patton and a fat cat called Old Spice.
Have a nice day! to all those young at heart! And to the Old fools i mentioned above. Kiss my (0) flat dead center!

You are truly ignorant! I'm sorry, but you know what they say? You can't fix stupid. Dawn works for me and I get to keep my brain cells and my shop. I keep thanking of all the times I have heard
Joe Ferebee talk about how he washes his ducks in Dawn.
"AND THEN" Here lil'ej the burnt out rocket scientist telling me I'm doing it all wrong.
Most people don't live like you. Our out house is actually in the house. I hope that don't confuse you. I know your running low on cells. They even quit putting that 1/2 moon in the door, you know the one you like to look out of at your house.

Im here to tell ya

Either take ej advice, along with the sarcasm to sound legit, or trust what EJ, George, me and so many others already know...use dawn, it works, but use your common sense, too. WASH in dawn, to pull just the right grease and oil out. Dont SOAK them. Yes, just wash, then rinse. Other water soluable degreasers work well too, as opposed to volatile solvents, which do strip essential oils off, as well as prime you for a trip through a wall...

Dawn works fine! You just gotta know...

...how to use it. There are some other methods and chemicals but,...life is a learning experience! LOL

Did you use Dawn with Bleach?

This response submitted by (jlt) on 8/16/06 at 5:46 PM. ( ) 68.19.197.58

Did you use dawn with bleach? Some bottles say they have bleach added. I always use dawn and only dawn. Works great for me. Stay clear of the dawn with added bleach.

I love these Einsteins

This is the same "ej" jerk who champions naphta for degreasing. Obviously he doesn't understand what RINSING is all about. Dawn does NOT contain bleach (unless you buy the one with it added). Any strong alkali product will "flash burn" feathers and fur if they are left too long in too strong a concentration or NOT RINSED OUT. What a maroon (sic).

ej the burn't out old guy! that fried his brain ~~!

thanks! for the good advise from Bill Yox, KIM. And thanks for the great laugh from DW
now...
George, you once learned how to read, and your work on capitol letters is coming along nicely, so you might as well learn the correct spelling is NAPTHA.

Yes, I've made my own word. I thought this whole site was to spread knowledge to everyone and help out new, up and coming tanners. C'mon, how childish is this. Who cares what we use to clean our hides, Some like Dawn, some like expensive name brand fur cleaners, I personally like to use good old fashioned SHAMPOO. Any type of shampoo you can get ANYWHERE will work. Pert, Suave, VO5, any of that just don't soak your hides, scrub the shampoo in on the FUR side. Dawn works, I know that from experience. Use it on the fur side, would you clean YOUR internal flesh with Dawn. NO. You wanna clean the fur. Always clean only the fur side unless a hide cleaning formula says to soak the entire pelt. Try anything, any type of shampoo, soap, scrub, hell you can use a toilet bowl cleaner if you feel the urge to splurge. You'll never know if it works if you dont try. So go out and make our tanning forefathers proud. And help out those new fellas like ej.
