Tumbling Questions

I'm looking for information on tumbling furs. I built a 4' x 4' tumbler. What I would like to understand better is stuff like when to put the fur in the tumbler [wet, damp, dry], how long do you tumble, what kinds of dust are used and what are the differences between them, what are the best [economical with good quality] sources for dust, How long can you use the dust before you need to replace it [how do you tell], how much dust do you put in the tumbler, and probably several questions I'm not yet smart enough to know I have. I am tanning mostly small mammals [bobcat, coyote, fox, coon, beaver, otter, etc] as well as a few deer capes.

Any insights or pointing me in the right direction would be very much appreciated.

Thanks David. I started searching the archives right after I posted. Sorry, Next time I'll search first. I have found some, but still need to keep looking. I'm sure it must be there.

One good source of dust is Mt. Pulaski products. 1-800-577-2627 ask for Marsha. there are many formulas and each tanner has their favorite.
