Oxalic acid is the only one you can use with crome tan its very poiseness be careful good luck RobinK
Oxalic acid is only poisonous if it's ingested. It has no vapors or fumes and it's a safe powder to handle when wearing the usual safety equipment: gloves.
The stuff sold to taxidermists is hydrated oxalic acid.
Just don't drink the water or eat the powder, k? LOL.
It is caustic if you get it on your skin. It will burn you, like any other pickling acid.
BTW Oxalic is not the only acid you can use with a chrome tan. It's just the best one.
