I use a borax solution with 1/2 teaspoon of formal. to tan fish and it works great. I am running low on the formal. and the drug store does not sell it anymore.

I don't have Breakthrough in front of me but if you get it it's in there. The name spelled wrong or something is Vedor or something. They sell all kinds of chemicals.
On a second thought here we're not tanning a skin with borax and formalahyde. It's just a preservitive.
What's the half a teaspoonful supposed to do. That amount is almost like a spit in the ocean.
