Dry salted hides

How long will a dry salted hide,last. Thanks in advance.

It depends!

A lot depends on the conditions you store it in. But in general - most salted and dried skins usually hold up a year or year and a half. Beyond that you are taking a chance that the fibers have begun to collapse and glue together, making rehydration and a plumping effect in the pickle difficult. When you store them, ideally they should be stored in a cool, dry area.
