Oiling a home tanned cape

I have always used brush on tan. I am going to use ez-100 some
this year. How much oil on average should I mix up for an average
whitetail cape. Does anybody just go ahead and mix up a gallon
or so and just heat up some and apply ,or should I just mix enough
to use with hot water. Will pre-mixing cause problems?

Generally speaking - I would say 8 Ozs. of our ProPlus Oil would easily cover an average cape. You mix it with 2 parts hot water - so it should be slightly more than enough. The only variable here is that some capes are smaller or larger than others. You can pre-mix oil and water but be careful on heating them for use later. If you boil the oils - any oil - it will break down and it wont be as effective as it should be. It may lose some of its desirable properties.
