Hot weather tanning

Submitted by Jim P on 6/11/99. ( scazjp@rohmhaas.com )

Is it neccessary to add bactericide to a pickling solution when tanning in hot temperatures, say 90 degrees when using saftee acid and tanning with EZ100. My shop is upstairs with no AC and it gets pretty warm.

Don't waste your Bacteriacide!

Don't waste it! With Saftee Acid your ph level is normally below 2.0. Below a 2.0 (0.0-2.0) Bacteria can't survive! However - the temperature is a problem if it gets that high. Normally tanning is done in the 65-75 range. I've never experimented above this range - so I really can't speculate on the outcome. I do know that Bacteriacide won't help!
