need to find a person who can supply me with hoops made out of tree branches. need to put tanned beaver pelts on them. thanks marty

Wooden beaver hoops are not comercially produced any more. You can make your own out of soft wood (birch or willow). Soak them in water until nice and soft and bend to shape, wait until totally dry to lace pelt on hoop with rawhide. Check an issue of The Trapper and Preditor Caller for commercially produced wire forms. Krause Publications publishes it, their web site is www.krause.com/outdoors, you also might try www.collectit.net for wooden beaver hoops.

thanks for the info doug. but i really need the hoops made out branches. i need about 50 units that would hold blanket size beaver. any ideas? maybe some native amercian indians could help me.thanks marty

I'll take a look this weekend in some of my old trapping magazines this weekend, I know I've seen an article on making and using wooden hoops.
