Why can't I post a message or reply?
This section of the Taxidermy Net Forums is the OLD section, containing messages submitted between August 1998 and August 2006. These posts are locked and cannot be modified. They are archived for viewing only. To submit a new post or ask a question, please visit the current Taxidermy Net Forum.
Why was my message removed?
The most common reasons messages are removed from the Forums are:
1. Duplicate messages. Duplicate messages with the same information will be removed. If we allowed repeat postings, the forums would quickly fill up with nothing but repeat postings, diminishing their value to everyone.
2. Anonymous mean-spirited messages. Unsubstantiated accusations from anonymous sources will not be allowed.
3. Foul language or coarse subjects. This website is used by young people as well as adults, so all submitted material should be apropriate for all ages.
4. A public fight or feud between two parties. Just like a bartender would tell you, take your fight somewhere else.
5. A pattern of rules violation. If a contributor willfully and consistently breaks the rules of the Forums over a period of time, their messages will no longer be welcome.
6. Message Posted in the Wrong Category. "For Sale" or "Wanted" messages placed in the taxidermy discussion categories (i.e. "Birds" or "Gameheads") will be removed due to space limitations.
7. Personal messages intended for a specific recipient. Please don't use the Forums to carry on personal correspondence with another person. Forum messages should not be used in place of private e-mail.
Where are the "Archives"?
From any category menu, scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen. The links to the Archives are at located there. When viewing the Archives, use the BACK button on your browser toolbar instead of the "Return to Category Menu" located within each message. The BACK button will return you to the Archives, while the "Return to Category Menu" link will return you to the current catgory.
Why Doesn't the Forums Require Registration?
Many internet bulletin boards require user registration to maintain greater control over the content of submitted postings. This is a complicated issue, and a comprehensive explanation of our position can be found here.
How Should I Title My Message?
This should be a few words summarizing the topic
of your message. After posting your message, this is the line that others
see when viewing the index of messages. A good descriptive subject line
helps others identify the subject matter of your message. A subject name
is required for the posting of a message. Please make the title specific
(For instance, do not use "Bird Taxidermy Questions" -- instead
use "Problems Wiring Flying Bird Wings".
How Should I Enter My Name?
Enter your personal name and/or your company name.
If you are an international contributor, feel free to enter your country
as well in the "Name" field. Because this is a professional forum,
use of "handles" (i.e., "Lone Elk") is discouraged,
but allowed.
Am I Required To Enter My E-Mail Address?
A valid e-mail address is not required to post within
this board, but entering your e-mail address will allow Forum administrators
to contact you in the event of a question, problem or if someone wishes
to respond to your message privately. Although the Taxidermy Net does not sell e-mail addresses to list brokers, entering your email on a public forum will allow web-crawling robots to gather your email address for spam campaigns. You may wish to disable these robots by using descriptive terms ("at" and "dot" instead of "@" and ".") within your email address, which would require a person to type it in.
How Do I Enter My Message?
The messages are the heart of the Forums. By being
clear and concise, your questions can be easily answered, your opinions
and thoughts are better conveyed. When complete, make sure that
you proofread your message, and don't hit the "SUBMIT" button
too quickly. Check your message for language and style. Please DO NOT type
your message in ALL CAPS.
Why didn't my response show up?
Responses to Messages do not appear on the Category
Menus. The responses only appear on the Original Message page, right after
the Original Message.
How do I edit a message I have already posted?
You cannot edit a posted message, but you may enter
a new message and then e-mail
the forum administrator to remove the old message. It may take as much
as 24 hours before the old message is removed. If you wish to edit or remove
a RESPONSE you have posted to an existing message, please e-mail
the forum administrator.
I cannot see (or get to) all of the categories!
The bottom of the list does not show up on my screen.
Click on the "Taxidermy Net FORUM Categories"
graphic in the upper left corner of your screen. This will bring the categories
listing to your main browser window, from which you can access all of the
categories.
If I have something for sale, may I post a picture along with the ad?
Sorry, but there is no way to display a photo on the Taxidermy Net Forums. The Forums are strictly for text messages. However, many people insert a URL address in their message which goes to their photo, which may be hosted elsewhere on the web, and most Forum users are comfortable with copying and pasting an address in their browser to see a photo.
For more specific information about posting to the Forums, please read the Rules of the Forums.
