Association Makes A Contribution To Taxidermy's Future!
Mike and Lisa Gustin are the current president and secretary of the NMTA. Recently, at the request of their board, they contacted the NTA with a generous offer to donate money. They asked for suggestions for the use of these funds or a Wish List. After several telephone conversations the NMTA board and their members decided they had such a successful convention that they wanted to donate $1,500.00 to the NTA instead of the original $1,000.00 donation they had considered.
Through their generosity the NTA has purchased a new fax machine for headquarters and a rifle, which was raffled in Lubbock, Texas (this issue of Outlook was at the printer so we will let you know who the lucky winner was in the next issue), as well as a $900.00 donation to the NTA Wildlife Conservation Fund. The NTA is fortunate to have outstanding affiliates with a deep love and respect for their profession.
President Theodore Roosevelt said, "In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen. The excellent people who protest against all hunting and consider sportsmen as enemies of wildlife [do not understand] the fact that in reality the genuine sportsmen is, by all odds, the most important factor in keeping the larger and more valuable wild creatures from total extermination."
The conservation flame burns bright in New Mexico and the NTA is proud that the challenge to achieve and their commitment will be a path for others.
