The 2019 World Taxidermy & Fish Carving Championships® is shaping up to be our biggest show ever. Registrations are as affordable as any we have ever offered and our facility and hotel are the best we have ever offered. There are several new changes to the rules and schedule from previous years.

Trade Show for Taxidermists. If you want to visit and see the largest industry trade show in the world for taxidermists, you are coming to the right place. The trade show offers 50 different vendors in 160 booths. There you will see everything this industry has to offer. Vendors offering the newest taxidermy forms, glass eyes, products, tools, fur dressers, tanneries, and just about every associated vendor for taxidermists will be there.

Seminars. We have a world-class line up of seminars and activities throughout the event and, of course, the most prestigious taxidermy and fish carving competition there is.

Over $40,000 in Cash and Awards. Taxidermists will be competing for $28,750 in cash awards and carvers for $2,000.

If you want to compete for the largest cash awards at the World Championships®, you should go after the Competitors’ Award, where $14,250 in cash will be awarded. You are automatically eligible if you enter four entries in either the Professional or Master Division. If you have four entries in both divisions, you must specify in which division you wish to compete for the Competitors’ Award. Please read the complete rules for this special award in our rules here.

Competition Levels for Everyone. There is a division of competition for every level of skill, and when you enter you will have the opportunity to be critiqued by the most talented and experienced taxidermists in their fields. You do not have to compete to be a part of this great show, but it sure brings on a sense of pride to tell everyone you did!

World Show Awards Banquet. We have a limited seating of 600 for this dinner and award ceremony and it sells out at every show. We recommend booking your banquet tickets when you register. Be there to witness $30,750 in cash awarded to winning taxidermists and fish carvers from all over the world! At the World Show Awards Presentations not only are all the cash awards given out and winners of World Titles named, but special talents from our industry will entertain you along with video clips from movies and TV, all using taxidermy as a main theme. We are very happy to announce the return of Russell Knight as our Master of Ceremonies for the 2019 award program. Russell is the star of the History Channel series “Mounted in Alaska,” and his quick wit and savvy will make for a very entertaining evening. Joining Russell on the podium will be a special appearance by legendary outdoorsman Jim Shockey.

Banquet Seating: There will be ten seats to each table, each at $45.00. We will place you at the first available table. You will not be able to choose the table, however, you CAN choose who sits with you — IF you buy those people’s seats when you buy yours. Your tickets will be all numbered to correspond with a table number and will be in your packet to give out. Tables will have prominent numbers and we will have the banquet staff ready to help you find your table and take up the tickets. Feel free to call us if you have any questions: 800-783-7266.

Lifetime Achievement Award. It is also our pleasure to announce that the sixth World Show Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to taxidermist, artist, and sculptor Frank Newmyer of Gladwin, Michigan. Frank’s contributions to the taxidermy industry are many and far-reaching. Our award presentation will highlight his story.

Best All Around Competition for 2019. The Best All-Around Taxidermist award returns for the fourth time at this show. The Master division winner will receive $2,000 and the Professional winner will receive $1,000. Ohio Taxidermy Supply is generously donating the money for this award. All of the information and details for competing for this award have been added to our rules.

MEET JIM SHOCKEY!
It is our great pleasure to announce that the most popular outdoor sportsman in the world, Jim Shockey, will attend and be a big part of the 2019 World Taxidermy and Fish Carving Championships®. Jim confirmed with us in early February that he will be available to meet and greet taxidermists on both Thursday and Friday (May 2 and 3). He will also be the guest host along with our Master of Ceremony Russell Knight at the World Show Award Presentation Friday night. A very big thank you goes to Ken Walker of Canada for making this happen.

Shockey, who now lives in British Columbia, Canada, is the producer and host of Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures and Jim Shockey’s Uncharted on the Outdoor Channel and Jim Shockey’s The Professionals on Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel. His hunting adventures have spanned six continents and 50 countries. Outdoor Life magazine said he is “the most influential celebrity in big-game hunting.”

Jim Shockey has received numerous accolades for his work in the outdoors. From Safari Club International he won the Fourth Pinnacle of Achievement Award in 2008; the Zenith Award, Crowning Achievement Award, Professional Hunter Award, and the C.J. McElroy Award in 2009. He received the World Hunting Award in 2010, and was named International Hunter of the Year and received the World Conservation & Hunting Award in 2012. In 2016, he received the Conklin Award, which recognizes the world’s greatest active hunter who pursues game in the most difficult terrain and conditions while abiding by the highest standards of ethics and fair chase. Shockey was named winner of the 2018 Weatherby Hunting and Conservation Award, bestowed upon those that have ethically taken the most varied, difficult, and largest number of species in the world.

ATTRACTION! Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium
Just in case the World Show venue is not enough, one of the major reasons we elected to return to Springfield, Missouri, is the newly opened Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium. It has been voted the #1 best new attraction in America. Explore over 1.5 miles of immersive galleries that take you into the natural habitats of the animal kingdom. Get up close and personal with big game and other mammals in the Wildlife Galleries, and dive into the ocean world in the Aquarium Adventure.

The museum personnel recommends allowing at least 3 hours to tour and visit both the wildlife museums and aquarium. The museum contains 350,00 square feet of exhibit area and the aquarium features 35,000 live fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds, representing more than 800 different species. There is a charge for visiting the museum and aquarium, but we are working on special pricing for World Show attendees. You can also arrive a day early or leave a day later, but you should not miss this world-class venue.

LOCATION!
The Springfield, Missouri area is easy to get to, with about two-thirds of the nation’s taxidermists living within a one-day’s drive. We feel the venue is a perfect fit for the greatest taxidermy and fish carving exhibition on earth.

EXCITEMENT!
Ride the wave of emotion and excitement of watching the world’s best taxidermists and carvers compete for the coveted Best in World Titles!

Probably one of the greatest things about attending a World Show are the people you’ll meet who’ll become your friends—not just the judges, seminar instructors, vendors, and World Show personnel, but people like you who attend to enjoy and experience the largest venue in the world for taxidermists and carvers. There is a common bond at this show with no politics, and you will experience one of the most enriching times of your life. We have been told over and over that the World Show is the greatest event a taxidermist will ever be a part of, and we will always do our utmost to keep it that way. It is time to start planning the event of your lifetime—we hope to see you there!
