The 2007 World Fish Carving Championships Categories

The 2007 WFCC Competition Categories and Divisions

This is an International Wildfowl Carving Association (IWCA) sanctioned show. The IWCA has established rules and guidelines for fish carving competitions. The World Fish Carving Championships has adopted these rules.

A carver can elect at anytime to move up in classification. Once a carver has voluntarily advanced to the Intermediate or Open level of competition, that carver cannot re-enter as a Novice or Intermediate carver. When a carver wins two Best of Shows, in the Novice or Intermediate levels, at any participating IWCA Show they will be advanced, regardless of the time between the first and second Best of Show honors.

Open Level (World Title Level)
In this level, all elements must be carved of wood, except for artificial eyes and metal for structural support (see Rules and Regulations 10 Criteria).

Intermediate Level
In this level, all elements should be carved of wood, except for artificial eyes and metal for structural support (see Rules and Regulations 10 Criteria).

Novice Level
In this level, real driftwood and cast or handmade rock are accepted. This Level is for the beginner with primary emphasis on learning.
