Nice finds! Don't share the location of those finds with anyone! Enjoy collecting from those sites yourself. I have thousands of artifacts. People actually stalked me to learn where I hunted. I finally resorted to having someone drop me off so my vehicle couldn't tip off where I was hunting.

That nickle was 1863 that find got me a little excited. Picked up a couple 50 cal civil war bullets that one in the pic is 32cal.
All of it surface finds. There are lots of pieces of human bone fragments and teeth scattered about, we never pick that up. There are three remaing indian mounds just to the edge of the field. A fourth mound that was a little futher out, was leveled years ago before they where protected. Thats why all of is there. Every year after plowing and a good rain is just laying there. You could fill up a dump truck with all the pieces if pottery laying around it’s literally ever wheres.

 

Cool finds Glen! I went with some guys down to Franklin County MS once on the Homochitto River. We found more stuff than we could carry out. Had to leave a bunch hidden behind, and never went back.

 

A place I hunted for years had 3 large mounds of rocks. they were close to a stream bed and the trees in the area were dated to when that area was dammed up and turned into a state park so I thought they were from clearing fields and over time the trees grew up in the field after the land was flooded.
After some research and exploring I found that this sight was a grave sight dating back to either the Connaught or Pymatuming Indians. This field had been worked for 100s of years and then settled by whites, used as a camp in the French Indian wars, rev and civ wars. The closest recorded home is an old foundation over a mile a way and the old road maps show no road but you can read the land and see a old tail or road along the stream bed. I think that is why I was a great place to hunt and still is.
I don't know if this place found me or I found it but people had been coming to this place or drawn to it. The dam and flooding changed how the land was used and a vary active sight is now unknown but for me.
This place was my last day of the season, last chance place to hunt. Never left with out venison for the freezer or a Turkey for the table.

Walking fields for points is one of my favorite things to do. I have often tried to arrange classes around going to good sites to walk. since moving down to georgia Ive asked a lot of folks about spots locally but theyre tight lipped even if they themselves dont look. Im dying to go since moving down here.
