I'm New here and i'm working on becoming a partime taxidermist.. 99% for myself.
Gonna give a little background. I am 44
I live in the the U.P. of Michigan, I have a Bachelors in Fisheries and Ecology. I am married and have two children. 13 and 19 I am the Manager/Superintendent of the Waste Water Treatment plant where I live. Been here for going on 21 years. I dabbled in taxidermy when i was 14, i did two mache filled fish and two Grouse. I am an AVID outdoorsman and I love my FALL Fishing on Lake Superior Rivers. As a matter of fact, here is a story of my DAD who is 85 years old and Shot his biggest Buck of his lifetime.. and its NOT BIG but its HIS biggest. I sent it to Bill Winke and he published it on his website. if you want to read it , the link it below. Gives a little insight as to my passion.. I still get tears of happiness when i read it. lol

Anyways, I want to say THANKS, for this SITE and all of the YEARS of KNOWLEDGE that have been contributed. I have been on here for reading and reading and reading. I have put a good 100 hours in over the last 3 weeks. I come on here learn something NEW everytime. I search for things and find new things.. Last Night I learned all about COLD WAX.. lol I havent even started any taxidermy yet. I'm gonna start by doing a fish, probably a Repro so I can wipe it clean and practice my painting.. PERCH.
And lord knows, if anyone has any tips for a beginner, feel free to throw them my way.

I was thinking to myself as i was reading posts from 10 years ago, Wouldnt it be neat, to hear about or see how the NEW GUY/GAL from 10 years ago has developed.. How much He or She has improved.

But Anyway, Just wanted to say HI and THANKS!

    Brad from Michigan.

You are so right about this site; it is an awesome resource for people who are willing to take the time and make the effort to read through the massive amounts of information and instruction here. I am one of those “newbies” from 10 or so years ago that now has a reputable taxidermy side business and I put out some pretty good work (if I dos say so myself). I owe so much to this forum and some of the great people on here that give of their time and energies to help those looking to learn or improve in the art of taxidermy. I still learn new things, and I strive to continue improving the craft, but I also want hope to give back and be a resource and a help to others like so many have been to me. Welcome to the taxi.net family!!
