Shipping Frozen Capes

    Just need some tips on shipping so I dont screw it up. How do you typically pack a frozen hide to keep it frozen? Do you use standard shipping?

    I avoid USPS, but whether you use UPS or FedEx, ALWAYS ALWAYS choose priority or 3-day shipping! It'll cost a bit more, but for the shake of a cape, it's worth it, and your customers should be completely ok with it.

    I pack my capes in several plastic bags FROZEN, having squeezed all the air out prior to putting it in the freezer. Then, whether thick styrofoam or the Pink Panther insulation is handy and cheap at the time, I pack that 100% 360° all around that cape, including top and bottom. For a particularly expensive cape like a moose, I'll get some of those packing bubbles and pack those on the outside of the insulation on the tops and bottoms.

    That's just me. I am one of those who gets anal about her capes, so maybe it's overkill. But with the priority or 3-day shipping and all that packing for safe travel and arrival, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

    Check the long term weather forecast also. I have never shipped, only purchased on here but several sellers also freeze bottles of water to include with the cape(s). I have made a few dozen purchases and only once did a problem occur and it wasn't the sellers fault, it was the postal service that last the package and it showed up almost two weeks late. (Phew!) I am not endorsing or bashing the post office, crap happens!

    Ship on a Monday with no holidays. Find out when the deadline is for the day to bring postages to check in....(keep frozen in a freezer as long as possible the day of shipping). Take a look at the weather and ship and coldest days possible. Avoid shipping cross country or to isolated locations that take multiple days during summer months/hot weather. Go at 3 day or quicker. My preference is FedEx.
