Masters Blend Part A Crystalizing

Discussion in 'Bird Taxidermy' started by Cookingandstuffing, Apr 5, 2020.

  1. I am an amateur taxidermist . I only mount a few birds a year for myself
This is the second time that the bottle Part A of Masters Blend has gone bad / crystalizing
    Part B is totally fine
Does the product has some kind of shelf life or should i freeze it or??????
    Any tips would be great
    Thank you all
    Be well

I freeze mine but use it up pretty quick. Never tried this but maybe try letting the bottle sit in hot water to see if it goes back to liquid.

I have had a set for 15 months, kept in refrigerator and it is still in good shape with only some crystals around the neck of the can.

  4. Thank you. I will keep it in the freezer then

  5. I threw away the bottle so wont be able to try it. But thanks and i will remember that

I’ve heated it up on a stove. Probably the smartest thing to do but it melts it. Done this several times over the years. Best kept cold

I'm in California too! I have some going on 6 mos. now and it is fine. I keep it in the refrigerator next to my beer!

I had the original and the part A did the same thing . I've been using the Matuska new stuff and keep it in the frig .. No problems yet ...
I think I found a new product to try for shooting feet that is a one shot deal .. Haven't tried it yet but going to .... Gorilla glue thinned with laquer .... Hardens with in 10 min just don't know if it is thin enough to shoot through a sm needle ...

I am certainly no expert here but I would be very careful if using heat. Would be nice to know how much heat to use and was it stove top or oven?
