Joe Coombs Vs. 6500 For South Texas Deer

    I would like to know which one would fit better for South Texas deer. I've used the 9600 series for many years and have many satisfied customers but sometimes they seem a little slim in the nose and jaw area and I have to deal with extra loose skin. I really like the medium swell look on them. I know a lot of you have mentioned the Joe Coombs 9500 series really look good. On the Mckenzie website you can actually look at the different measurements and choose medium swell, full swell, etc. but I just cant see that on the Joe Coombs website. I already ordered a catalog and I'm waiting for it maybe it's listed there. I just don't know if the mannikins for Joe Coombs are also categorized by pre rut, full, medium swell etc. Those of you that have mounted on both of these mannikins, what do you think?

    I prefer either Coombes or fosters. If I had to pick just one for south texas deer would definitely be Fosters.

    Honestly this is the first time I hear about fosters. I did check their website and I think I will have to order a catalog from them. For some reason my clients are now wanting the biggest neck I can put on the deer and it's becoming more and more common for them to ask. I tell them, like some of you suggested, to just shoot a bigger deer but oh well. Like I said, I like the swell on the 9600(I think I wrote 6500 on the original post) but I'm looking for that fuller face.

    I try and get customers to understand that trying to make a deer bigger can cause problems. Not to mention no detail!! The fosters forms are great for these southern deer and are also very affordable.

    I like there Coombs and fosters details and looks but there forms dent so easy and if your sanding details in its real soft , think foam density could be tighter , one reason i like McKenzie

    The 6300ser slim neck could be s good fit for Texas deer .

    In all my years using these forms I've never experienced denting. The density may be a little less than McKenzie, but I sand detail in with not any issues. They actually have enough detail as is without getting too carried away.

    I agree they have a lot of detail , as I said I like there looks but in my experience as soon as you break thru the outer shell the foam is soft . I don’t drill out lip lines and such , I cut a slit then tuck the lip , when I tuck on Coombs forms the foam rolls up in little balls kinda thing , a denser foam when a make the slit it parts and grabs the lip , kinda hard to explain but that’s just my experience

    I drill my lipline so the issue doesn't come up. I go through over 150 forms each year from fosters and probably 25 from Joe. The few I get from McKenzie I've never noticed the density difference. I could see an issue with density the way you do your lip line.
