Finished these recently. Nice to get a break from all whitetail.

 

The old pack mount first one I’ve ever done turned out pretty cool

 

Are you open to criticism?

Ok great , as i like your concept, I feel you were going for a dead deer being carried out on the pack , what it looks like is a neck mounted deer head sat on a rolled up hide . The main thing I’m saying is it looks like a mounted deer , not a dead head . I use just a change out head , as when most people pack a critter out they get as much meat off as possible, the head would be tied down into pack not setting upright with a 30 lb neck roast kinda thing . Not sure how many years you have been doing this but use reference on every thing, to include dead mounts . Not busting just informing. Hope this helps a tad

I agree that that was very well explained critique and no doubt helpful. Just a second opinion on the over all look of the mount. The way I look at it is . . . maybe if your carrying the meat out anyway leaving it in the skin would be an option? The thing that sells the look of the mount is the deer's position on the pack. It's the way it's tied to the pack by the antlers. It's head would be in that position. Neck meat wise I get deer in all season where the neck meat is gone and where it's all there. I see both sides just wanted to comment I feel the deer mount makes sense and is anatomically correct. JMO

 

A sneak I just finished - don’t do many of these.

A really nice 8 point I just finished. I am getting close to finishing last season’s mounts…I might even be able to squeeze something in for myself!!!

 

Don’t work on many doe, but I shot this 8/9 year old gal with my bow last year in Kansas. In the wild her white ears shinned and really stood out. The back of ear ears have a large area with no hair and the tips looked worn off.
