Any one doing any Beaver pelts stretch on the hoops that they have left the feet and tail still attached? The tail can be split and only the top part need to be attached and the feet can be still attached for drying. When hanging as a wall hanger it appears to look like a complete beaver wall hanger. I'm interested in a display speciman for educational interest at a reasonable price?I'm working on a budjet.

I have heard the Fur market will be very bad this year.please contact me at jerreddalton52@gmail.com with a photo and price of the beaver pelt i have described? Thankyou Jerred.

the fur market for beaver is very bad. but the market for scraped and hooped beaver is very good. kind of like comparing a dead roadkill on carcass with tanned dressed and sewn into a hat value. raw on carcass big beavers are worth about $4-6. hooped dressed beavers with feet and tails minimum of $100 up to many hundreds. your best bet would be buy a raw hide, scrape and have tanned, skin out feet and tail and then lace onto a willow hoop. better yet buy some $25 traps, buy the trappers license, set your own traps and run them till you get a nice big one, then skin yourself. not being smart, just explaining why being on a budget will probably not get you what you are looking for. trapping is not just time consuming, but a lot of work and expense. do not forget to buy the hip boots and misc gear needed. if you can hold off till the seasons open I can do the catching and skinning with tail and feet left on and sell raw frozen in the $35 range ,plus shipping.

  7. I started trapping beaver this morning and at this point in time only do it on my property, so I am looking for somebody in Michigan who will take the beaver I trap. I am flexible, but not going to spend much money to give beaver away. So if anybody in Central Michigan wants them contact me.
