Not exactly my mounting stand, but I had a chance to spend the day with a great friend and mentor in his shop.

He was about ready to retire after about 35 yrs in business when border closures and travel restrictions effectively shut down his business that comprised mostly of bear mounts from US hunters. (Of course, hurt the outfitters badly as well) 60-80 bears went down to 3 or 4 and a few deer heads.

He had about years worth of work to finish up before closing the shop and semi retiring to a smaller garage-shop.

We live about 5 hours apart, so I've never had the chance to work with him in the shop before, he's just mentored me through texts and phone conversations.

He showed me how he does Bondo ears and set clay ear butts.
Had a great visit and always lots to learn. Nice to see a pro at work.

It was nice to see a pro at work.
Also nice to see that some struggles are universal. Zig-zag Y incision to figure out, cut short on the forelegs by brisket.
Nip + tuck, stretch, here and there, we made it work. Funny part was that his son had caped it.
My friend gets all the credit, I was mostly in the way!
